GOLD SERIES #1 | BURLEIGH DRIVE IN | CHARCOAL
$25.00
The Burleigh Drive-In opened on 12th December 1957. It was the sixth to be built in Qld and the first to open on the Gold Coast. The screen,110ft by 50ft and 20ft off the ground was one of the tallest manmade structures on the Gold Coast at the time. In the back of the Ute or Panel Van – reversed into the spot – and a good Burger from the Snack Bar was a great way to enjoy the movies. The first movie to be screened was “The Million Pound Note” starring Gregory Peck. Burleigh Drive-In was closed in 1980 and has been demolished. The Site is now occupied by Stocklands Shopping Centre – Burleigh West Shopping Centre.
